PETPOSITIVE'S MISSION IMPOSSIBLE TOMORROW
SINCE OUR REGISTRATION in June two years ago - and after the amazing support that Our Society has received from all of you for the many activities we have managed to hold in our short existence - an event which is scheduled to take place tomorrow will have a tremendous impact on us and why we got established in the first place.
In less than 24-hours from now (please check the countdown timer above this story for the exact time) PETPOSITIVE will be making a significant presentation to about two dozen medical experts in a local hospital.
We will be introducing animal-assisted therapy as an aid to rehabilitation to persons with disabilities and the elderly.
We've been given 30 minutes to make our case. I will be sharing with all the healthcare workers present about how my pets played and still play a significant and direct role in my own personal recovery over depression when traditional rehabilitation methods had failed.
In addition to sharing my story, I will be making a Powerpoint presentation about what PETPOSITIVE is all about - as well as show a DVD clip about how my service dogs assist me in my everyday life.
The purpose of the talk is to get our healthcare professionals interested in providing animal-assisted therapy to their patients as an alternative means of recovery and positive-attitude building after a tragedy or illness.
PETPOSITIVE also hopes to work with the hospital concerned by forming a link with them when we have set up our new centre. We will be focusing on working closely with accident victims and helping them cope with their lives.
We hope the rehab workers will be able to refer us to patients who particularly have trouble adjusting with their lives after the onset of disability.
In addition to me being present, Monday's meeting will also have Petpositive's Fasidah Sabeh, Captain AKS Russell and Chan Mee Leng.
Please wish us luck in our mission everybody. We are hoping for a breakthrough to happen. Keep it right here for the latest on tomorrow's talk.
