Still No Loving Home For Canine Who Wants A Second Chance

PETPOSITIVE NEWS!

This morning around 9am, our volunteer Suchismita Das went over to the Petronas petrol station in Jalan Sri Hartamas in KL to see if the female stray had been rescued.

She was happy to find "Petronas" that she was looking okay but sad at the same time that no one had rescued her despite around 1,500 people (and counting!) had viewed our posts on her her over the weekend.

Petronas is usually around in the mornings, evenings and nights but disappears to some mysterious place during the heat of the afternoons.

"She behaves more like a recently abandoned dog than a stray," observed Suchita who fed her this morning.

"She also doesnt feel threatened by people otherwise she would've taken off when I approached her" added Suchita.

Petronas' character vulnerability in fact is our main and urgent concern that some people who dislikes dogs or wishes harm on them might take advantage of the situation.

Petronas' gentle attitude makes her an ideal furry companion in the home to any loving family that will care for her.

Until that happens, she will never find peace and another human to give her a second chance.

Here's a shocking story of how a re homed stray bulldog mauls and kills a child. It raises the question of how re homing is done as per criteria. It also raises question of supervision of children with pets and seriously questions breed specific laws.

Anthony Siva Balan Thanasayan Hi John S. Thomas, I strongly believe that problems not with any breed - it can happen with any dog. But this disturbing development raises question about rehoming and what levels of professionalism must entail it. Also about supervision of minors with dogs and how children should be taught on how to handle dogs.

Anthony Siva Balan Thanasayan Pitbulls are good dogs - just bad owners. They used as service dogs in US and UK. Yes, some states classify them as dangerous. They need education. Breed specific legislation ban has never reduced dog bites. Rather increased by those outside the "banned breeds".

Tony's Basement And as much as the shelter should responsible and vet adopters more stringently, the parents should share the blame. They should not have taken in such a dog without prior knowledge and experience with handling.

Tony's Basement Another thing, the way it was described "grabbed her in its jaws and began shaking her like a rag doll" could indicate more rough play on the part of the dog and not a violent attack.

An experienced owner/handler of powerful breeds would have been able to stop and correct that instantly

Anthony Siva Balan Thanasayan Apparao Applanaidu I agree with you. Dogs should never be left with small children unsupervised. More so being a rescued stray. It is for one of these reasons why Petpositive shys away from using them with disabled and elderly persons. There is a nutcase animal NGO that criticises us for this - now they know why.

Anthony Siva Balan Thanasayan Tony's Basement U obviously are very knowledgeable on dog upbringing. I totally agree with U the rescue group has to answer but no one more than the parents. Thanks for your critical update on the story and pointing out the proper breed that was involved. I believe there must already have been warning signs ignored by parents. It couldn't have been sudden.

Alan S Tan on a separate note... the article says that they have bereavement counsellors there. Here we have shoot off their mouth politicians. We got the short end of the stick.
