I would like to express my deepest regret on Ipoh City Council actions in shooting the stray dogs around the city.
I sincerely request for the council to reconsider their inhumane acts. The promise made by the council in 2006 to no longer shoot the dogs has only been an empty promise.
There has been way too many killing of stray dogs especially the pregnant and nursing mother dogs. The puppies are left alone to die of hunger, this is way too cruel. Even private vets has been on action to perform urgent ops and stitches on dogs which has got missed bullets on them since the workers are unskillful to make correct aim and often give out missed shots and further leave these dogs running everywhere bleeding and wounded.
Being a civilized state why can't Ipoh City Council practice other methods like trap, neuter and release (TNR). Much poorer countries than Malaysia has been practicing it for years, why can't we? Other than these the council can also seek a team work to campaign neutering for pets together with Jabatan Haiwan and all private vets.
This will help to control the stray population in the near future.
In fact I have to give thumbs up for KL city council for at least being able to maintain a dog pound for the stray dogs they catch. It is high time Ipoh City Council pick up a lesson or two from them. It is totally unethical to shoot dogs.
Please stop immediately and permanently.
