First World Animal Day Celebration In History By A Local Council

AS AN ANIMAL ACTIVIST, one of the toughest things to do in the local council was to get them to have a special day to celebrate World Animal Day.

MBPJ humbled me and touched my heart by giving their full support to organise such an event that had never been held before in the council's history.

Of course, it would not have been possible were it not for the support of the then head of local councils Ronnie Liu Tian Khiew who opened the event. Here are pictures of councillors Richard Yeoh, Michael Soon KC and Dr Sadiah, head of MBPJ's Health Department at the time giving their full support. It was a wonderful lesson in fighting stereotypes of falsely thinking that councils would not be interested in such issues.

In fact, MBPJ has been holding such events yearly since then. Also in the picture is SPCA Selangor head Christine Chin. So, never give up or assume things are impossible!
