DATELINE MID VALLEY MEGAMALL, KUALA LUMPUR:
Anthony and Kenny at Pizza Hut |
A CITY COUNCILLOR was told this afternoon by a Pizza Hut manager to get out of their restaurant because of his wheelchair.
Anthony Thanasayan who is councillor for Petaling Jaya and an activist for disabled rights was scheduled to have a lunch appointment with an able-bodied person.
When Thanasayan requested to choose where he wanted to sit with his friend in the half-empty restaurant, he was told point blank by Pizza Hut restaurant manager Niq Ribiya that her outlet had a strict and clear policy not to welcome customers in wheelchairs.
She went on to say that these were the instructions given to her by her Area Manager by the name of Ms Rozita.
Thanasayan and his friend were denied of a meal in Pizza Hut. A complaint was immediately made to Mid Valley's Customer Care Manager Kenny Tan who rushed to the scene.
Please make your strongest protest against Pizza Hut for this shocking discriminatory practice.
Kindly share this post widely to stop discrimination against Malaysians with disabilities in the country.

Should thank your lucky stars as the food sucks.
As usual from pizza hut. Bad service but never thought to this extent.
I am all in to support "stop discrimination against Malaysians with disabilities" but one thing we have to know is this happening across all their outlets or this particular branch?
Quote: "..her outlet had a strict and clear policy not to welcome customers in wheelchairs.
She went on to say that these were the instructions given to her by her Area Manager by the name of Ms Rozita."
The quote above underlining the problem is within this particular outlet's Manager and their PH Area Manager and not Pizza Hut itself.
I am not working for PH and have no interest in dining in PH but this is internet and before we go around spreading protest we have to make sure the protest is aiming to a right directions. Personal opinions against PH doesn't make it the fact that all of them is the same.
The question is, have you consulted the Area Manager claimed by outlet's manager? And if it's true you can proceed to find it out from PH if these policies really do exists. A lot of questions remain unanswered so it is not wise to protest blindly based on one opinion.
Good day!
Absolutely disgraceful. We should call for a boycott on Pizza Hut. Only when they feel the hurt (where it hurts most - in their cash collection) will they learn to be more accommodating and caring.
Do we need such arrogant behaviour from a SERVICE outlet. I appeal to all right thinking Malaysians to boycott PIZZA HUT immediately.
I have taken my mother on a wheel chair into Pizza Hut Mid Valley on busy days. Once in the evening & once on a weekend.
The first ocassion they seated her in a convenient location near the entrance...on the second ocassion ensuring her fractured arm was not facing a high traffic area.
But I must add it is not wheelchair friendly due to the constricted area.
