PET+NEWSFLASH! (From Malaysian Local Council and Animal Welfare Facebook)
YIKES! Rats seem to be taking centre-stage with the Petaling Jaya City Council. International broadcaster Aljazeera is doing a special programme on the worldwide rat menace. They have picked MBPJ as one of the cities that is fighting to keep the environment free from disease spread by rats. Whilst the move to keep the population of rats under control is a must, there is also a growing demand by animal welfare groups that whatever the local councils do, they must do it humanely. MBPJ is trying to be that local authority that is slowly but surely working towards being a city that not only cares for human beings but for animals under its jurisdiction. Aljazeera will be preparing for interviews with MBPJ this week.
