MBPJ Doesn't Kill Stray Dogs - They Hand Them Over To A Humane Animal Society And Pay RM20 For Each Animal

aNt's aNgle: A scene like this is enough to distress any one of us who have grown up with pets.

MBPJ van brought closer to canine as humane procedure

But after we've grown up, most of us come to realise that such a thing is a "necessary evil," if you like in our society.

After all, which dog or human being would prefer life on the streets where it is, pardon the expression, a dog-eat-dog-world?

Trap, neuter and release? Come on! In which planet are we living on?

We all know that it has never and will never work.

Even the famed animal ethics group PETA and a host of other international humane animal organisations are resorting to putting down animals that nobody wants with "a good death."

The so-called India's "success story of TNR" since the 1960s is at best a controversial one.

Even some of the scientific ideas behind how stray animals developed has been debunked.

And one expects such a thing to happen in Malaysia where it is not uncommon to receive remarks from residents threatening the council that if they fail to get rid of the animals, they will take it upon themselves to poison them.

Again, I ask, which planet are we living on?

This dog was caught in Petaling Jaya when a resident complained persistently about it claiming that he was "attacked" by it whilst he was jogging.

What happened next was the same scene you would find anywhere with the world's best dogcatchers to even animal rescuers here.

The dog screaming in fear, putting up a resistance and biting on the loop, possibly even causing bleeding.

But according to veterinary experts, the bleeding is only temporary and will stop once the dog is no longer stressed.

This dog which was caught last week was sent immediately to the humane shelter PAWS where its fate would ultimately be decided by them.

Contrary to lies spread by some unscrupulous animal NGOs, MBPJ does NOT kill any dogs!

PAWS' team of experts will decide if the animal is too sick to survive and be put down or if it has a good chance of re-homing.

MBPJ pays PAWS RM20.00 each for all dogs, cats, puppies and kittens it hands over to the shelter.
