PET+NEWSFLASH!

KOTA KEMUNING, SHAH ALAM

THE CANINE UNIT of Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam (MBSA) appears to be under fire for alleged dog-mistreatment.

Allegations on Facebook are accusing the council of ceasing several stray dogs from a house in Kota Kemuning.

The incident is believed to have happened early this morning.

The strays were apparently being looked after by an animal rescuer together with the owner's two dogs until the former could be rehomed.

A source claimed the council had given the owner a certain grace period to remove the dogs, but went against their word following a neighbour's complaint.

Shenaaz Khan from PETPOSITIVE and president of Malaysian Animal Welfare says, "If these allegations are indeed true, MBSA has broken the law as they have absolutely no right to enter anyone's premises and remove animals from the said premises, irrespective of whether the dogs are strays or otherwise.

"This is trespassing and the council should immediately conduct and investigation and not jump to the defence of their workers. The owners should lodge a police report on the matter as soon as possible."

PETPOSITIVE President Anthony Thanasayan who is also Chairman of Petaling Jaya City Council's Canine Advisory Team tried to speak to an MBSA official this morning but was abruptly told to stay out of the matter.

Thanasayan is now seeking the help of an MBSA councillor to intervene.

More updates as we get it.
