PETALING JAYA: Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil may be called up to help in the investigations into the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) issue.

This follows the move by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to refer to the police the case of a RM9.8mil luxury condominium bought from funds belonging to the NFC, which is connected to Shahrizat's family.

The issue surfaced after the Auditor-General's Report said the project was in a mess and did not meet targets set by the Government.

This has since been refuted by NFC executive chairman Datuk Dr Mohamad Salleh Ismail, who is Shahrizat's husband.

“We will call up Shahrizat, along with others involved, if there is a need to do so,” said Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar.

Federal commercial crimes investigations director Datuk Syed Ismail Syed Azizan and his team are investigating the case.

“We are in the early stages of investigations to see if there were any criminal breach of trust or cheating involved,” Ismail said.

He was speaking to reporters during a walkabout at The Curve shopping centre here in conjunction with the Selangor police Crime Awareness Day programme yesterday.

He also launched a book entitled Beyond Policing - The Strategic Shift co-written by Selangor police chief Datuk Tun Hisan Tun Hamzah and lecturer Khoo Kheng-Hor.
