A GROUP OF ANIMAL LOVERS in Kajang are furious that their calls for justice and humane treatment of stray dogs are obviously going unheeded by the authorities.

In this instance, the Kajang local municipality or MPKj has been targeted.

Pixes on Thursday: Miserable existence
Animal activist rescuers are claiming that the MPKj have been catching stray dogs and "locking them up in a van without food and water and starving them to death."

Only the lucky ones are finally euthanized.

PET+BLOGSPOT has since learnt that there is some truth to the starvation story in our independent investigation.

As many as a dozen animal activists are expected to march to the local police station to make a police report on animal cruelty against the MPKj this evening at 6pm.

This is the second time the animal lovers headed by animal rescuer Puspa Rani is making a report since last week.

The latest action comes after Puspa herself videotaped on Thursday the condition in which the strays were kept. See HERE

"You can see clearly that there are no feeding containers for the trapped animals," said an angry and most upset Puspa to PET+BLOGSPOT this afternoon.

"Even dying animals have rights and must not be deprived of basic necessities such as food and water," she added.

Where strays are kept allegedly starving for days
"And why are puppies being caught and later separated from their mothers as was a case in the lorry that I videotaped?"

Puspa says that she is extremely disappointed that no action has been taken by the police against MPKj since her report last week.

"However, I am not going to get discouraged by it," she pointed out. "I will continue to make police reports until this form of cruelty is finally arrested."

Puspa concluded she is also mulling with the idea of making public protests over the issue.

Meanwhile, in a response to PET+BLOGSPOT also this afternoon, MPKj Head of Municipal and Health Service Department Tuan Hj Arshad bin Hj, Salleh (below, left) defended the Council's actions.

He said that every action is being taken not to be cruel to the animals under their custody. He claimed that the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) had visited the site on Thursday and a report by them is now forthcoming.

"Once that comes in, MPKj will be working closely with the DVS to manage the strays in our care."

Hj Arshad also claimed that strays that are caught from now on are put to sleep on the same day.

Today's police report cum press conference is open to all animal lovers.

This is HORRIBLE!!! I've read in the Star newspaper(http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2011/11/21/nation/9945534&sec=nation)that no food or water was given to the poor animals and the contractors actually ADMITTED that they only put the dogs down days later once the van is full! This is PROOF of animal cruelty! The authorities should make an example of these contractors and punish them to the full extent of the law! Better yet BAN them from ever getting dog catching contracts again! I am so DISGUSTED!!!

This links to a website showing the Majlis Kajang and the same tangkap anjing contractor on some operations in Taman Puncak Saujana!!!!!

That's near where I stay!!! And why are the pictures showing a dead dog? Did they suffocate the poor animal with their poles? Or worst, did they use poison!!!!!

SUCH VILE AND CRUEL PEOPLE WILL BE PUNISHED BY GOD!!! SHOULD CHANGE THEIR NAME TO "DON'T CARE" INSTEAD OF 1CARE!!!!! DAMN THEM TO HELL!!!
