Special Animal Welfare Meeting on Wednesday Morning

(Look out for possible 'live' reports on Twitter, Facebook and Yahoo during the meeting)

DATELINE PETPOSITIVE THERAPY CENTRE, PETALING JAYA:

IT IS ON FOLKS!

The all-important meeting that we have all been waiting for that is set to take place at the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) in Putrajaya in the morning of tomorrow.

Invitations are already going out to animal welfare and rights organisations to attend the extraordinary open dialogue with government agencies for a better treatment and protection of animal rights in the country.

The meeting will be chaired by DVS Director-General Datuk Dr Abdul Aziz Jamalludin who initiated the idea.

In addition to engaging with dialogue with all the relevant parties, Dr Aziz also wants to use the opportunity to endorse the Animal Welfare Council to effectively look into animal issues in the country.

It is not clear whether such a body presently exists or is going to be launched tomorrow.

The meeting follows the incident recently when a therapy dog belonging to an elderly woman in Ipoh was shot dead by the council authorities (MBI).

PETPOSITIVE will be present at Wednesday's meeting. So also will members of the Independent Living and Training Centre (ILTC) from Rawang, Selangor.

The group was responsible in holding a protest on September 25 this year at the Kuala Langat district over the killing of nine pedigree dogs.

ILTC will be represented by Francis Siva whilst Petpoisitive will be by Anthony SB Thanasayan.

Elsewhere, Member of Paliament M Kulasegaran has re-confirmed with PET+BLOGSPOT that he is awaiting news from the MBI about a possible meeting on Friday this week.

Protem Noah's Ark NGO Dr Ranjit Kaur also confirms that efforts are being made by a MBI councillor to have a meeting as soon as possible on the therapy dog killing.

Thumbs up to all of you and to the DVS .
Don't forget that if laws are enforced to protect animals , laws must be enforced regarding pets owners duties .
If Ipoh council doesn't want to act by its own and continue the slaughtering (for reasons that only them understands...) , the law will force them to do . But the law will also punish the careless pet owners . Fair or not??
Thanks to all animals lovers . Malaysia is maturing !!

Thanks Anonymous for your encouragement.

We agree with you, Malaysian animal care and welfare is now showing signs of maturing. :)

Let's still not get too optimistic but wait and see what happens tomorrow.

We are going with good feelings, of course, and hoping to reach the sky!
