More than 1000 dogs and three times that number of dog lovers!
These are the numbers (and perhaps even more!) that will make up the people and canines that will converge on the soil of Bukit Ekspo at University Putra Malaysia's (UPM) annual Dogathon event on Sunday morning.
PETPOSITIVE will be there, of course.
We'll be manning our special booth - the largest - which has been given to us by UPM's Veternak and Zoologico clubs which is made up of more than 200 junior, intermediate and senior veterinary students of UPM.
Dogathon 2010 is UPM's 14th annual event to date.
Petpositive has managed to pool in several volunteers to help us man our stall. They were recruited by various sources that include Girl Guides from Veternak and Zoologico, Yayasan Salam, Petpositive Empowerment and PET+BLOGSPOT.
We still need volunteers - so it is not too late to join in the tail-wagging fun event if you can make it between 6.30am to 2pm on August 8, 2010.
For the others of you, if you happen to have some good items that you don't need, kindly bring it along with you and drop them at our booth. The money collected from your items will go a long way in supporting our cause which is to partner people with disabilities and the elderly with pets for positive living.
You can also make donations in cash or by cheque.
Please be informed that donations to our non profit national society is tax deductible.
In addition to raising funds for PETPOSITIVE, we will also be conducting short talks at our booth. The topics will cover the disabled, elderly and animal-assisted therapy.
Joining us will also be a good opportunity to ask all the questions about the issues that we cover in person. You will also get to meet disabled and elderly people at our booth - not to mention our special furry companions as well.
The team from Petpositive will be: Committee Member Antony Leopold, Yours Truly and Assistant Secretary Shenaaz Khan,
For those of you who are interested to volunteer or support us, please call: 012 220 3146.
See you at UPM!
