Look Out For The PETMOBIL!

PETPOSITIVE NEWS!

DATELINE PETALING JAYA:

THE BIGGEST NEWS that is keeping all of us at PETPOSITIVE enthused and excited is the arrival soon of the godsend PETMOBIL.

That's the name that we at Malaysia's very first animal-assisted therapy national society have decided to - very proudly - name our van which is being donated to us by the CIMB Foundation.

It hasn't quite arrived to us yet.

"But it's journey over to the Petpositive Therapy Centre (PTC) in PJ has certainly started," said a delighted Shenaaz Khan, who has been assigned to pick and coordinate the colours of our brand new "VIW" (Vehicle-in-Waiting).

Khan, who is Acting Secretary of our Society, was also extremely tight-lipped to PET+BLOGSPOT as to what her colour-choice will be.

"You just will have to be patient with the rest of the Committee Members to see what the finished product will look like," she said with a twinkle in her eye at Sunday afternoon's meeting to discuss the finer details of the PETMOBIL

"All I can tell you," she said cheekily, "is that it will be a one-of-a-kind vehicle in the whole country."

"The PETMOBIL will feature both PETPOSITIVE'S and CIMB Foundation's logo clearly with our Society's Webpage address and contact number so that people can call.

"It will be bright and striking and anyone who sees it at a glance will be yearning for a second look," Khan said.

Apart from the van's colour coordinator, Sunday's meeting was also attended by Anthony SB Thanasayan, PETPOSITIVE'S President and Roshen Raj, who is helping our Society coordinate all the necessary details of the vehicle.

"What is most important are the safety features," said Raj who works as assistant fleet manager of Safeguards Securicor in PJ.

"The PETMOBIL must possess safety features that are unparalleled to no other vehicle that is on the roads now," he explained.

For this, disabled passengers will have the option of using as many as four kinds of seat belts for their protection that are best suited for their shapes and sizes.

"Our four-footed friends should also be included as the PETMOBIL is being specifically donated by CIMB to transport therapy animals to disabled and elderly homes," reminded Thanasayan who told PET+BLOGSPOT that he was absolutely thrilled by the outcome of the Sunday's meeting.

A cheque is being prepared this week in order to make the initial payment for the PETMOBIL.

The top secret colour by Khan will also be decided by week's end so that the van can be sent off as soon as possible for the paint work.

Raj and Thanasayan are also expected to make a special trip by the end of the week to view the PETMOBIL which is being kept at a warehouse in Semenyih.

The purpose of the trip is to ensure that all the right fittings are added into the PETMOBIL for safety and comfort of all PETPOSITIVE'S passengers with physical disabilities.

The main coordinator for the preparation of the PETMOBIL is Antony Leopold who is currently recovering from a spine surgery in Ipoh, Perak state.

It is just amazing to consider the amount of planning meetings that took place ahead of Sunday's meeting.

On Tuesday Khan, Thanasayan, Leopold and one of PETPOSITIVE'S Advisers, tetraplegic Francis Siva met at Mid Valley Megamall to discuss about the van.

Leopold, together with Raj visited the vehicle in the KL showroom on Thursday.

Leopold visited the place a second time when Khan and PETPOSITIVE Assistant Treasurer Andrew Martin also dropped by to inspect the vehicle.

The last meeting was the one that was held on Sunday to finalise the van's details.

CIMB's CHERISHED GIFT
The PETMOBIL gift from CIMB will be launched by the Foundation as soon as it is ready for operation.

The PETMOBIL will, among others, make regular visits to newly paralysed and depressed persons in hospitals and their homes to provide animal-assisted therapy and peer counselling sessions.

Transportation of disabled and elderly persons' pets for outings and to the animal clinic will also be a regular feature whenever the need arises.

The PETMOBIL will also be seen at official meetings at government level as well as in the corporate world's event in order to represent PETPOSITIVE to the world.

We simply can't thank the CIMB Foundation's invaluable help for making all these possible for us in the near future.
