Top Talks On Dogs In Selangor Today

FULL HOUSE is what it is certainly going to be today at the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) when close to a hundred participants will gather for the first time in local council history to talk about dogs.

The one day workshop in Selangor will bring together directors of health of all 12-local councils in the state and officers assigned to specifically deal with canines.

They will be there together with key local councillors and representatives of animal rights and welfare organisations to come out with more effective and humane ways in dealing with dogs of all types that include strays as well as pets owned by residents.

Issues that will be covered include topics from dog bites and nuisance pets to animal rights and welfare.

The event is organised by the Canine Advisory Team (CAT) of the Petaling Jaya City Council or MBPJ.

"This significant meeting is meant to bring awareness between animal NGOs and the local councils about issues involving dogs that has kept them at loggerheads in terms of approach and execution for years," said Anthony SB Thanasayan, the Chairman of CAT  this morning.

When asked about the success of this latest effort by CAT, Anthony told PET+BLOGSPOT that it will entirely depend on the participants at the workshop.

"What is important is that both sides listen to each other with an open heart and agree to come together with a plan on working together for a common interest which is the welfare of dogs and human beings in our society" he said.

This morning's event will be opened by YB Dr Xavier Jayakumar, a top official from Selangor who is in charge of public health which canines come under.
