The incident happened this afternoon when a river nearby swelled up and sent a rush of waters disrupting a special Xmas party organised for the rescue dogs of the popular Malaysia Independent Animal Rescue.

Within minutes, the waters almost reached  the rooftops as the more than a dozen volunteers fought to save the lives of as many canines as they could.

Many perished as a result.

However, the canines that are alive badly need a temporary shelter to house them, until they can be relocated properly.

The incident happened behind the Petronas petrol station, next to KFC outlet in Kajang.

Volunteers are still needed there.
