Welfare Minister Looking Into Discriminatory Registration Policy for Disability Allowance

JUST HEARD from Francis Siva of Iltc Malaysia that the disabled senator met with the Welfare Minister this afternoon to seriously discuss the unfair policy of yearly renewal of disability allowance for all those who are eligible.

Francis had called up disabled senator Bathmavathi Krishnan last week and warned her that if she did not do anything about the issue within seven days, he would get the disabled community to protest against all of them over the issue.

The discrimination was first highlighted by Francis and a group of disabled who protested about it during Deepavali last year.

It was followed up by a meeting with the Welfare Minister who had promised to do something about it. However, the incident reared its ugly head again during Chinese New Year last month and highlighted by Law King Kiew

Thank you Law for highlighting it personally to the director of the special aid in Welfare and for Siva. Let's hope the issue will finally be resolved.
