MBPJ's Progress In Animal Welfare and Rights

ANIMALS CERTAINLY HAVE RIGHTS TOO! One of the things that I was privileged to do as MBPJ councillor over the past five years is to get the council to get rid of its ancient dog-catching vehicle and replace it with a spanking new one. The new one is more humane and discreet, helping stray animals travel with better comfort to PAWS Animal Welfare Shelter in Subang. We even took
the trouble to get experts from the Department of Veterinary Services to inspect the vehicle and give their professional opinion. The former mayor Dato Roslan bin Sakiman had famously said that animals in Petaling Jaya should be given the same respect and care as human residents. Although there is so much more to do, MBPJ has come a long way from then to now where we celebrate World Animal Day every October. Pet owners have become more aware about pet responsibility as well as on animal kindness and understanding of their needs.
