Nothing Positive Or Funny About 'Kucing Kurap'; Only Animal Abuse

PETPOSITIVE SAYS: There is nothing positive at all in what one nongovernmental organisation in Penang wants to do by giving a couple of stray animals to a political party to drive home their personal message to the latter.

It is just irresponsible animal care at its worst. If they carry out their threat, there is no other message that will be learnt in the exercise except "animals can be abused" for one's personal exploits.

'Kucing kurap’ gifts for DAP duo still on

Jeff Ooi's apology not “not sincere and honest”, says Malay NGO and Tony Pua's targeted for his 'Umno running dogs' comment
GEORGE TOWN: A local Malay NGO’s plan to present stray cat gift to Jelutong MP Jeff Ooi is still on despite the DAP man’s apology last week for his “kucing kurap” remarks against civil servants.

Malay Sons of Penang Association chairman, Jahangir Abdul Sukkur, said the NGO and the Malay community had rejected Jeff Ooi’s apology because it was “not sincere and honest.”
He said the NGO wanted Jeff Ooi to apologise publicly to civil servants and Malays in general for his “kucing kurap” remarks at a press conference.

He said the community did not accept Jeff Ooi’s apology at a DAP convention on Dec 1 as he did it only on the directive of party national chairman Karpal Singh.

He said the NGO would decide next week when and where it would present the animal gifts to Jeff Ooi and to another DAP parliamentarian Tony Pua of Petaling Jaya Utara

“We will not compromise. We will present the kucing kurap when our dateline expires next week. Jeff Ooi must meet our ultimatum. Or else he will get a real kucing kurap.
“Same goes for Tony Pua… we will give him an anjing kurap (stray dog),” warned Jahangir during a post-Friday prayers demonstration outside Masjid Kapitan Keling here today.
The demonstration was to protest against Jeff Ooi and Tony Pua. The protestors held aloft anti-Jeff Ooi, anti-Tony Pua and anti-DAP banners, placards and streamers.

On Nov 16, Jeff Ooi described low-ranking municipal council officers as “kucing kurap”. His remarks drew flak from various quarters including from DAP, PKR and Umno, and several NGOs.

Ultimatum

Pua came under fire from various quarters for describing officers of Registrar of Societies (ROS) as “Umno running dogs” immediately after the DAP re-election on Sept 29.

Jeff Ooi apologised at last Sunday’s party state convention after Karpal instructed him to do so. He however, insisted he was only doing so due to Karpal’s pressure.

“I apologise if my remarks have offended some people. No one can force me to retract my statement and apologise except for Karpal Singh.
“When the old tiger (Karpal) speaks, the little tiger (Jeff Ooi) will listen. I will do what Karpal asked me to do,” Ooi told DAP delegates.
Last Friday, the Malay Sons of Association held a Friday demonstration outside Masjid Melayu Jamek Lebuh Acheh against Jeff Ooi, Tony Pua and DAP.

The NGO issued a 10-day ultimatum to the MPs to openly apologise for their demeaning remarks, failing which both will receive stray animals as gifts.

Today, a committee member of the NGO, Mohd Azmil Ismail, asked DAP strongmen Karpal, Lim Kit Siang and Penang Chief Minister Guan Eng to state their stand on Tony Pua’s “running dogs” remarks.
“The DAP leaders have been quiet on the matter. Tony Pua remarks were also demeaning. Are they supporting Tony Pua’s statement?” asked Mohd Azmil.
