From Anthony Siva Balan Thanasayan's Facebook Page:
THIS MOST UNPLEASANT SCENE "greeted" me on Monday at Maybank in Section 52, Petaling Jaya.
Not only was this car with a disabled sticker on the dashboard (see yellow paper) parked on an unmarked slot next to the disabled car park but it totally blocked anyone from trying to use the special ramp made by the bank for wheelchair customers!
I mean, how utterly thoughtless can one be?
On top of it, the bank staff told me that it was used by an able-bodied person pretending to be a disabled person and he took the opportunity to park his car there everyday for hours on end - depriving other handicapped people from using the slot.
The bank also informed me that the driver did not patronise the bank but went to other places and only came back in the evenings.
I initiated an investigation by MBPJ's enforcement team at once.
The investigation within 24 hours revealed that the car actually belonged to a "Datuk" who claimed to be using a walking stick. (Different story from the bank staff)
The car also clearly didn't have any special gadgets fitted on the steering wheel that a handicapped driver would use.
And most important of all he didn't possess an official disabled identification card from the Welfare Department.
The gentleman was given a stern warning by MBPJ enforcement
staff to never to park there anymore or he will have his car towed away.
The moral of this story is: If you are disabled, register yourself officially as one. There is no need to be shy to say you are handicapped when you are.
