World Animal Day 2013 Not About Killing Dogs

From World Animal Day 2013 Facebook:

Barely 48 hours before our historic World Animal Day 2013 event and sadly, opportunistic and rumour-mongering vultures are already at work.

An animal NGO notorious for its outrageous lies and nutty views to gain attention is telling its "members" to boycott WAD 2013 - as if they were actually even invited in the first place!

We have not only duly reported their posts to Facebook but we are also seriously considering defamation action against them.

No folks, local councils are not "stray haters" and the event is not a celebration about how to put down dogs.

It's really about responsible pet ownership - how pet lovers can love

and care for their dogs and cats more - as well as avoid their furkids from being a nuisance in the neighbourhoods.

The event also hopes to serve as a platform for animal lovers and those without pets to come together and learn from each other.

We also hope to forge meaningful dialogues between animal lovers, activists and local councils - something that until lately, and now, has sadly broken down between the two groups.

Come and learn how local councils like MBPJ, MPK and DBKL are struggling to control and at the same time, cope with stray animals in the cities and towns and what they are bound by law to do.

Discover the shocking and sickening stories of how cruel pet owners can be to their own pets - even animal shelters; and how another community, those that don't have pets, have to put up with pet lovers who can't care less about non pet lovers' rights.

At the same time, we also want to hear about the grouses that pet lovers have with local councils and what they think councils should do more regarding humane animal treatment.

The speakers will include the Department of Veterinary Services as well as several NGOs related to pets.

The keynote speaker is Dr Xavier Jaya Kumar. He has a wide experience of stray management having helmed the post of Director of Health in the state previously. He is a dog lover himself as well as a health care professional.

There will be lots of time for questions and answers. Many other local councils have been invited to the event.

Whilst no animals will, unfortunately, be allowed into this indoor event, the organisers have made sure that no animal will be part of the wonderful menu available on that day.

So we've made sure not only to look into your mental needs but your physical needs as well. So, be prepared for a wonderful and fun day. See you there!
