Pizza Hut to probe PJ councillor's wheelchair issue

Pizza Hut Malaysia has expressed "concern" for an incident where wheelchair-bound Petaling Jaya councillor Anthony Thanasayan was purportedly barred from dining at its Mid Valley branch yesterday.

Without going into detail over what happened, it said that Pizza Hut "does not discriminate (against) customers with special needs".

anthony thanasayan mbpj councillor 200608 01In a statement on its official Facebook page, it said that it will investigate the matter and will meet Anthony (right) to resolve the "miscommunication" tomorrow.

"We can't stress enough that we take all matters in regards to customer experience with us very seriously," it said.

In a blog posting, Anthony, a vocal advocate for persons with disabilities said he was asked to "get out of (a Pizza Hut) restaurant" because of his wheelchair.

He claimed that the restaurant manager informed him that the outlet had "a strict and clear policy not to welcome customers in wheelchairs", as per instructions from Pizza Hut's area manager.PET+BLOGSPOT is the ONLINE BLOG of the Malaysian Animal-Assisted Therapy for the Disabled and Elderly Association or Petpositive.
