PETPOSITIVE NEWSFLASH!

DATELINE PETALING JAYA, SELANGOR

IT HAS BEEN CONFIRMED that Dr Xavier Jayakumar will be launching the Petaling Jaya City Council's (MBPJ) World Animal Day 2013 Celebrations at the end of the month.

Dr Jayakumar who is State Assemblyman for Seri Andalas has been picked by Selangor State Exco Elizabeth Wong to officially represent her at the function.

"He is an excellent choice for the occasion with
his high level of knowledge and experience on the subject matter of animals when Dr Jayakumar was head of health in the state when he had to deal with wide issues relating to animals including stray population management and responsible pet ownership," said MBPJ councillor Anthony Thanasayan who is organiser for the event.

"Not only that but Dr Jayakumar also has a sincere love and passion for the issues as he is a dog lover and owns pet dogs himself." He added.

Although this will be the fourth time that MBPJ is celebrating World Animal Day, it will be the first time that the council will doing it with Kuala Lumpur's city hall (DBKL).

WAD 2013 marks the first time in history that both councils will have worked together. The theme is to focus and educate society on responsible pet ownership.

The occasion will be observed by two special forums bringing several local councils, the Department of Veterinary Services and animal NGOs together in a lively discussion and sharing of ideas on animal care and welfare.

WAD organisers also plan to take their message of responsible pet ownership on television and radio next week.

There will also be a vegetarian breakfast and lunch for participants which are all free.

MBPJ/DBKL WAD 2013 will be held at 8am on Saturday, October 26 in MBPJ's Library in PJ Old Town.
