MBPJ Hauls Up Irresponsible Pet Owners

UPDATE!

1) The dog in the picture is no more there to frighten the wits out of passer-bys. MBPJ said they don't want to see them tied up there any more. The dog will be obviously thankful to the council in that it doesn't have to be put out in the rain and sun - and petrol fumes anymore.

2) The Rottweiler from the elderly home is now safely kept within the compound where it can harm no one.

3) The guy with the three dogs let loose without a leash has received a strong warning from MBPJ. The dogs have never been seen since.

4) MBPJ will make another attempt to catch the couple of stray dogs that have been harassing joggers in a park tomorrow.

Well done MBPJ!

DATELINE PETALING JAYA:

IT WAS WAR this morning on irresponsible pet ownership when the Petaling Jaya City Council's dogcatchers went on their rounds as early as 6 o'clock.

Recall our story about a loose Rottweiler belonging to the elderly home that was terrorising residents in the area?

Well, despite MBPJ's fine on the owner for not having licences for the Rottweiler and another dog - a mongrel, the dogs were on the loose again.

MBPJ was on the scene again this morning issuing another warning. If it is left unheeded, the Rottweiler faces the risk of being ceased and handed over to PAWS animal shelter in Subang with further fines for the owner.

An owner with three dogs, a mastif, doberman and miniature pinscher received a warning for all three of his dogs without a leash for a walk.

Despite his dogs' abilities to be "well-controlled", it wasn't enough to impress the local council. "Put them on a leash at all times once they are outside your house compound!" was the message and warning given by MBPJ to the owner.

Imagine owning a mansion and leaving your dog outside the premises - albeit tied up - probably to do its "business" - for a couple of hours.

This was the situation for another dog owner and his canine when MBPJ came-a-calling and frowned on his behaviour. Not only that but the dog kept barking fiercely at passer-bys separated only by a chain that was tied up to a tree!

The owner got a strong telling off by the local council warning them to abandon the practice and keep his canine inside his compound.

Finally MBPJ managed to locate the two strays that had been chasing joggers in a park at the crack of dawn this morning. Plans are underway to catch them and hand them over to PAWS this week.

The dogs started gathering in the park after a few members of the public started feeding them in the mornings.
