The First World Animal Day Celebration In MBPJ

FLASHBACK! This is our very first World Animal Day celebration in MBPJ. A seminar was held to change the public's perceptions of dogs being a pest but rather companions to human beings. The event was launched by YB Ronnie Liu Tian Khiew. Dr Chandra Muzaffar gave a powerful talk on Islam highlighting the positive role of dogs. Guests included dancer Ramli Ibrahim. Speakers in the panel included SPCA Selangor. It was the beginning of WAD celebrations in MBPJ and a historic change in the way in which the council and society started looking at animals in the city so much so that the former mayor Dato Roslan Sakiman emphasizing that animals too in Petaling Jaya should be treated humanely.
