Stray Dog Mix Up Horror in MPAJ

PETPOSITIVE NEWSFLASH!

DATELINE AMPANG JAYA:

A HAPPY ENDING that was meant to be suddenly went awfully wrong today.

A stray dog that was caught here last Friday was supposed to be re-homed to a pet owner this afternoon.

However, a wrong stray was brought by the dogcatchers from the Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya dog pound leaving behind a very distraught would-be owner.

It is strongly believed that the original stray has been put down by mistake.

The matter is being investigated by councillor Supiramany Sinnapayal from Zone 21.

The DAP councillor had fought hard for the right of the dog to be re-homed by its new owner.

"At first MPAJ was reluctant to give us the dog and wanted us to pay a fine for it," the distraught animal lover told PET+BLOGSPOT.

"But we argued that the dog was a stray and why should we pay a fine for it when it was not ours?" she said.

"We finally managed to get the dog with a new license thanks to Supira," the owner added.

PETPOSITIVE had also worked behind the scenes to help the husband and wife animal lovers get their dog back.

The animal loving couple are now pushing MPAJ to find out whether or not the stray was still alive and how such a matter could be handled so frivolously.

MPAJ also faces criticism for their hired dogcatchers who make it a practise to place more than one dog in a cage causing the animals to fight with each other and injure themselves.

Petpositive has raised the matter with MPAJ's Director of Health Dr Sarodin who promised to look into the matter.

Petpositive has also called for a meeting as soon as possible with MPAJ to discuss the matter and set a standard operating procedure for dogcatchers to conduct their work humanely.
