Councils In Problems Over Stray Management Issues

PETPOSITIVE NEWSFLASH!

DATELINE PETALING JAYA:

RECENTLY IT WAS REPORTED THAT THE KLUANG MUNICIPALITY (MPK) had strangled a stray dog to death whilst their dogcatchers were trying to nab the canine.

We in PETPOSITIVE still do not know what exactly happened at the event. It was alleged by animal lovers that the council has been making it a practice to kill other strays in such a way.

A reliable source however told PET+BLOGSPOT today that the dog in question did in fact die on the spot where it was being caught.

However, the source denies that it was strangled. It might have been because the dog was a sick dog it was argued.

Apparently such an incident had never taken place in MPK before. Since last year, the source claimed that MPK had stopped putting down stray dogs but are now relocating them in places far away from humans.

The YDP who is apparently an animal lover, is said to be very upset over the canine's death.

The Canine Advisory Teams (CAT) of both the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) and the Klang Municipality (MPK) have expressed their willingness to help Majlis Perbandaran Kluang in their stray management programme by inviting the southern local council to visit them.

Meanwhile, the Ampang Jaya municipality (MPAJ) in Selangor are in hot soup over several stray dogs they rounded up last Friday.

Animal lovers are up in arms over the fact that the private dogcatcher they employ are placing more than one dog in cages. This causes the animals to fight with each other and severely hurt each other.

A press conference in being planned by local animal welfare NGOs and it is believed the MPAJ is itself investigating the matter.
