What's Your Disabiilty Game-Plan MPS?

PET+NEWSFLASH!

LATEST UPDATE: Feedback received from a few who attended the meeting indicates that this is just another effort to "look good" as if something is being done for the disabled community. The group was apparently told that this was not an OKU Technical Committee like MBPJ. Rather it was to "garner views" from the disabled as to what needs to be done.

Apparently it was said that MPS is "not ready" to set up an OKU committee (whatever that means!) This new group "may" meet once in two months and no date has been given for the next meeting.

Here we go round the merry-go-round again folks! Sad, sad and SAD!

DATELINE SELAYANG SELANGOR:

aNt's aNgle:

A MEETING on disability is being held at the Selayang Municipality (MPS) right now. Some disability NGOs have been invited.

Is this going to be another wasteful "talk-shop" organised by the MPS, is what that is playing on everyone's mind.

I have worked hard with the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) to help set up a monthly disability committee since I started off as a Councillor of PJ.
Initial meetings on disabled access with MPS

We've had many meetings to help set up a committee.

Although we did have one or two meetings, a true and proper disability committee that meets at least once in four weeks has yet to be set up properly.

All the disability community has been getting is once excuse after another why regular meetings were not held to address disability concerns.

Former MPS Councillor Gurdip Kaur
The last meeting on disability that was held to our knowledge was about 11 months ago in March.

So what's really your game-plan MPS?

Are you really interested or not?

It's the handicapped community that suffers in the end.
