EXCITEMENT is building up among the local disabled community for tomorrow's event for International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) is wrapping up the year with its final programme for residents of PJ with disabilities and the elderly at the 1Utama Shopping Complex here.
More than 200 persons - many of them people with disabilities - have been invited by the City Council to celebrate the United Nations sponsored event which falls on December 3 each year.
To be held at the entrance of High Street (New Wing) of 1Utama, the action begins at ten in the morning where all the guests will arrive.
YB Dr Xavier Jayakumar, Head of Caring Government of Selangor will make his entrance to launch the event.
Speeches will be delivered by Councillor Anthony Thanasayan, MBPJ Deputy Mayor Tuan Puasa Bin Md Taib and Dr Xavier himself.
After the launching, an exclusive screening of MBPJ's "Petaling Jaya Barrier Free City" video that put the City Council in second placing at a Commonwealth event in India will be screened.
Three disabled/caregivers will be given special recognition awards followed by a musical showcase of disabled people's talents for the busy shoppers.
There will also be a lucky draw before lunch is served and everyone's continues their disabled day celebrations by going shopping.
