Ensure The Safety Of The Handicapped in Bersih Tomorrow, Says PETPOSITIVE

The Malaysian Animal Assisted Therapy for the Disabled and Elderly Association or PETPOSITIVE is alarmed, concerned and outraged that the authorities have announced a ban on the Bersih 3.0 gathering tomorrow at Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur at 2pm.

Petpositive - which fully endorses Bersih 3.0 - is especially concerned about the well-being and safety of vulnerable groups who will be participating at the event to call for a free, fair and clean upcoming General Elections from all parties concerned.

We are especially concerned for the disabled and elderly in wheelchairs, walking sticks or white canes who could be the first to be injured in any untoward incidents.

Thus we would like to call on KL City Hall and the police to exercise their responsibilities in ensuring that these special groups and individuals will be fully protected and allowed to particpate safely and peacefully at tomorrow's Bersih 3.0 sit in.

Medical personnel and an ambulance should be on standby if they face any health problems. This is the responsible thing to do from any government.

Petpositive would like to reiterate that whether one is handicapped or not, every Malaysian has the right to express his or her voice for free and fair elections.
