DATELINE PETALING JAYA
A happy stray on the streets? |
And already things are hotting up.
Thanks to many of you who have called in to express your support for me in championing the plight of stray dogs in and around the city.
Many of you are hopeful that when the Selangor state government comes up with a centralised pound by this year - stray animals will finally have a place to be kept - until any one adopts them.
Those that don't make it will sadly be put down humanely.
However, there are those of you who disagree with this and feel that the animals shouldn't be put down at all.
Instead, they should be caught, spayed and released back into their original place (a practice called TNR) and be left to die a natural death.
However, tune in to BFM tomorrow and I will share with you why such a suggestion - albeit a well-meaning one - is really a myth.
TNR will never work in Malaysia - and I'll tell you why along with my co guests on the show.
Dog catching stopped in Ipoh |
All of us will give our audiences the real picture of what goes on out there in the world of strays. We will tell you how they suffer, who tortures them and the kinds of ugly fates that await these hapless animals because of the public's apathy.
Training talk for dogcatchers |
So I hope all these are good and great reasons for all you animal lovers and others to tune in to contribute to a very worthwhile discussion.
