Time To Talk Dog On BFM

PETPOSITIVE NEWS UPDATE!

DATELINE PETALING JAYA

LISTENERS to business radio station BFM will soon be treated to a rare opportunity of hearing two local councils talk about stray dogs in the country.
The Canine units of the Petaling Jaya City Council or MBPJ and the Klang Municipality (MPK) will appear on the air to field in questions put by listeners to the 24-hour broadcast.
"Listeners will be able to hear as they say, "from the very horses' mouths" what happens to stray animals that are caught on the streets and what goes on after that," said PETPOSITIVE President Anthony SB Thanasayan to PET+BLOGSPOT when asked this afternoon.
CAT Klang
Thanasayan, who will also appear on the air with the local council representatives said going on the broadcast will be an effective way to counter some of the negative perceptions that some of the public, especially animal lovers, have over them and their role in controlling stray populations.
"Because the councils had so far remained silent amidst criticisms, at least one nongovernmental dog group had taken the advantage of spreading distortions and lies about the good things that local councils are doing for animals," said Thanasayan whose job it is to bring about positive changes in local councils in the way they treat animals.
The wheelchair-bound animal activist spearheaded the Canine Advisory Team or CAT when he became MBPJ councillor in 2008. Shortly afterwards, he also became chairman of another CAT group in MPK.
"Since then, terrific positive changes have taken place for animals which we are going to talk about on BFM.
"We hope this will help counter the false and unfair perceptions created by irresponsible animal NGOs that all local councils are 'dog-haters' and 'animal-persecutors.'"
Recently a couple of NGOs appeared on BFM and ran down all local councils as being cruel and unfair to stray dogs and cats.
"Just because of some 'bad hats' it is most unfair to lump all local councils together as some of them like MBPJ and MPK have already started earning a reputation for their noteworthy work with strays under their care." Thanasayan pointed out.

"Such remarks from NGOs only make themselves look stupid and lose further credibility with local councils - and it's no wonder why they are non achievers when it comes to engaging with local councils to help all animals!" He concluded.

The BFM interview with the local councils will be aired on the broadcast's The Evening Edition talk show that is always aired 'live' on Thursdays.

The special interview will be aired on Thursday, January 5, 2012 from 6pm until 7.30pm.

BFM covers business news and current affairs.

The radio station can be heard on FM88.9MHz in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and certain parts of Melaka.

Hey Tony,

You don't know me but I do know you from meeting you once.

Apparently that Wani Muthiah crackpot from The Star is conducting a petition against you.

Sorry if this hurts but is that lunatic in love with you or something?

She seems so obsessed with you that she posts something about you everyday.

Do you know this woman? Did something happen between you and her that we don't know about?

Dear Siva,

I just went over to the petition against you by MDDB.

This Wani Muttiah who writes under a bitch named Popkiko is a real nutter!

Incidentally, didn't she threaten stopping you as a councillor ages ago?

Why didn't succeed? Next thing you know she will try to contact Obama to get you out.

My advise to you Siva is to carry on with what you are doing.

Thank you for speaking out for those who want stray dogs free neighbourhoods.

As taxpayers, we are fully behind you. You are one hell of an animal activist who is fair to everyone.

So don't be intimidated by such faceless cowards.

Keep those wheels of yours rolling man!

I'll be listening in to your show, by the way.

Hi,

I am dog trainer and importer. I love dogs and I always believe in the fact that dogs exists to serve humans. Period. That is all it is about. They can be your pet, but there is a purpose for being a pet. That is to accept the owner as the master and serve him. Never ever the other way around. This is the real purpose why the dogs' ancestors were domesticated by early humans.

Now we have a problem with stray dogs, which in anyway does not fill the specs of pets, show dogs or even working dogs. They are ferral animals which now due to modernization of human civilization have assume the role of pest or vermins. This is a fact that people must understand. We feel sad about this because generation way way back, the ancestors could be from pedigree dogs. It was due to human mishandling and lack of responsibility these dogs have now strays.

And strays carry many diseases that our pet dogs are not immune to. Added to that they present social problems such as destroying your garbage on a daily basis which you leave outside your house for the municipal workers to pick up. They chase kids and joggers, there are cases of attacks. When you walk your own dog near their "territory" you and your dog run the risk of being attacked by a pack of stray dogs that "own" that areas. It had happened to me more than once.

Why it is not being recorded or documented? Because there is now to account it for? Who own the strays? It they themselves...Factory owners who feed these dogs for cheap security disown it when the municipal people comes and ask it the dogs belong to them.

So-called NGO don't understand how to address this problem. Does neuter and release help? It never will. Why? First place it defeats the purpose. Do you neuter stray cats, rat, occasionally snakes to release them? What habitat are trying to balance here. This is not a wild-life ecosystem, it is a township. A lot of money will be wasted in this method. This NGO must apply this technique for wildlife. It's more effect, so the NGO can think about working with NGC(National Geographic Channel).

Pounds are not a solutions, they are temporary means to control this outbursts of strays. But most importantly tax payers must get the government agencies to control this at least so that you can take your home pet dog for decent walk in the street.
