Born disabled, he was denied a formal education because the authorities refused to make a disabled-friendly toilet, he says. 

 

Depression set in during his teenage and young adult life until a trip to the United States in the late eighties changed his life forever. 

 

"I took my first public bus there and immediately realised that I had been living a life of lies all of my life that if you are disabled, your life is over," he told Dino in an unrehearsed interview wheeling by the shops in Mid Valley Megamall in Kuala Lumpur recently. 

 

"Now it's no more about pity but about our rights - and my mission is to demand those rights not only for me but for all Malaysians with disabilities in the nation," he concluded.
