Dr Xavier Jayakumar A Fine Gentleman, Says PJ Councillor

Xavier a fine gentleman, says PJ councillor

KUALA LUMPUR: Disabled and animal rights activist Anthony Thanasayan has come out in defence of PKR's Xavier Jeyakumar following calls that the state exco should quit his post as Kota Raja PKR division chief.

Anthony, a Petaling Jaya City Council member, said he was extremely disappointed to read that certain individuals had urged Xavier to quit.

"Is this an attempt to assassinate the character of a very fine gentleman in Xavier?" asked Anthony.

"Many of the individuals' arguments are almost impossible to prove and are incredibly petty,” said Anthony, who is also president of the Malaysian Animal-Assisted Therapy for the Disabled and the Elderly Association.
Recently, a disappointed group of Kota Raja PKR division members expressed their unhappiness with Xavier and want him to resign to make way for fresh faces or lose in the coming general election.

Said Anthony: “I had highest honour and pleasure to work with Xavier. He is approachable, passionate about his duties and makes a terrific listener with a clear gift of empathy for peoples' problems."
He said Xavier is also down-to-earth "as is evident from the way he is swamped by smiling people who rush up to greet him at every function".

Anthony said Xavier had never turned down any invitation to support his projects for the animals and the disabled.
