PETPOSITIVE BRIEFS: Leopold Doing Fine And Is Well On The Road To Recovery

PETPOSITIVE BREAKING NEWS!

LATEST 12.30PM: Leopold making remarkable progress. Painkillers have been reduced, patient to start walking tomorrow and will be discharged on Wednesday.

WE ARE THRILLED TO REPORT that Our Committee Member Mr Antony Leopold is doing well after his spine surgery at the Pantai Medical Centre in Ipoh, Perak, earlier today.

Leopold was operated by a spine specialist from Tanjung Bunga Medical Centre in Penang by the name of Dr Sim Chaw Shian.

He was also attended by orthopaedic surgeon Dato Dr Vasan Sinnadurai from Pantai.

The type of surgery that Leopold went through is called a cervical spine decompression and fusion procedure.

It was carried out to correct several compressions in Leopold's spine that was causing him to suffer intense pain in his arm and neck.

The scheduled four-hour surgery that began at 8am took longer than expected. This was after his surgeons discovered an unexpected third compression in his spine during the surgery.

The operation was declared a success at approximately 1.55pm today.

Leopold was wheeled out of the operation theatre and kept for immediate observation in the convalescent room for about an hour.

He was moved to the Intensive Care Unit for further observation at 3pm. By about 4pm, Leopold was returned to his room to recuperate from the surgery.

When the specialists visited Leopold this evening they told Vimala Leopold, his wife, that they are very pleased with how the surgery was conducted.
