PETPOSITIVE: WE ARE FOUR YEARS OLD AND GROWING STRONGER!

DATELINE: KUALA LUMPUR & PETALING JAYA

PETPOSITIVE, MALAYSIA'S FIRST AND ONLY ANIMAL-ASSISTED THERAPY SOCIETY FOR DISABLED AND ELDERLY MALAYSIANS TURNED FOUR-YEARS OLD ON SUNDAY THIS WEEK.

"It was especially a proud occasion for us all as 2009 is also the significant year in which our Petpositive Therapy Centre (PTC) in Petaling Jaya (PJ) was opened for operations," said Anthony SB Thanasayan, President of Petpositive to PET+BLOGSPOT in an interview on Sunday.

"Whilst our headquarters will continue to be in Kuala Lumpur, animal-assisted therapy work will be concentrated in our PTC which is located in Jalan Carey in PJ," he added.

According to Thanasayan, the PTC already has a marine animal corner which focuses on aquarium therapy.

Another therapy pond is currently being installed in Petpositive's Therapy Room where all the counselling and pet interaction sessions will take place.

"There are plans in the near future to use cats, dogs, birds and other pets to help build up the confidence of persons with disabilities," he explained.

Activities will not only be confined to the centre only. Petpositive will hold outdoor visits to the SPCA and other venues where the handicapped and the elderly can interact with animals.

The costs to run the Petpositive Therapy Centre is RM5000 a month. Petpositive appreciates any financial aid that members of the public can offer to cover our expenses.

Petpositive is a national, non profit Society with tax exemption status. For more information, kindly call +6-012 220 3146.
