THERAPY THROUGH CHARITY:
SPCA & PetPositive Learn the Art of Progressive Healing!

“Animals are such agreeable friends. They ask no questions and they pass no criticism.”
Animal-assisted therapy (AAT) is a proven effective method of healing.
On the morning of 24th of June, Anthony Thanasayan, President of Petpositive, a non-profit AAT organization,
and the Malaysian Animal-Assisted Therapy for the Disabled and Elderly Association,
together with 6 elderly and disabled members of PetPositive came to participate in the most natural
program there is for them – by volunteering at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA Selangor).
The PetPositive members were taken on a tour of the SPCA Animal Shelter, and introduced to the daily activities of the SPCA,
aided by Y.B Edward Lee from the Selangor State government who was invited to witness this auspicious event.
After the introduction, the guests were then given a brief demonstration of a dog-training session, conducted by K9 Pets’
irreplaceable local dog-trainer En. Badri Mokhtar. Vaccination, de-worming and basic grooming methods
were also demonstrated to the future volunteers.
This is turning point event for animal welfare and human rights. The inspiring collaboration
does prove that together with animals' therapeutic powers, humans can
find each other, and just as importantly, themselves.

Education on the Rise!
On the 18th of June, SPCA conducted an educational visit to
Bukit Damansara Primary School and
shed light to some 200 students on important animal welfare issues.
This highly interactive, fun-filled event is just one of the examples of hundreds of schools
visited by SPCA representatives, and we plan to visit more, for awareness truly is the key for change.
SPCA believes in the quote for the children:
"Learn as much as you can while you are young, since life becomes too busy later."
"Let us not look back in anger or forward in fear, but around in awareness."
If you would like to have an SPCA visit to your school, or university,
SPCA conducts talks and presentations to all levels of education institutions. Please contact Pris Hendricks, our Education Officer at prishendricks@gmail.com for more information.
CRUELTY HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK!
This is the information flyer to announce the Malaysia Brand Equity Award 2008.
This is the reality of what happens to the bull after the "sensual" fight. The bull dies.
Bullfighting is a blood sport and SPCA is horrified by the unnecessary
and inconsiderate use of these images in the name of advertising in Malaysia.
The old notion of bullfighting being romantic is now known as being disgusting and highly unethical.
Depictions of violence and egocentricity is not intelligent warfare!
Animals should not be tortured, killed or abused for entertainment -
the bulls you see above have died slow and painful deaths.
