Tesco Denies Abuse of Handicapped Car Park by Staff as Investigation Continues

Here is Tesco Malaysia's official reply - just in - over the issue:

Dear Anthony,

Firstly, I would like to thank you for the concern raised to our attention regarding the abuse of the OKU parking space at Tesco Extra Desa Tebrau.

As I’ve mentioned to you, following your FB posting we have launched our internal investigation into finding out the owner of the car parked at the OKU space.

Following this, I could like to confirm the following:

1.       The car parked at the OKU space does not belong to a Tesco

staff and definitely not a ‘Tesco top brass’ as indicated by your posting. The photographed car belongs to one of the mall tenant’s employees based at Tesco Extra Desa Tebrau. We have since requested the mall tenant to remove the car with stern warning and we have placed a chain across the OKU parking with a sign providing the contact number of the Store’s Duty Manager should a person with a valid OKU sticker wishes to park there. An image of the space with the chain across is enclosed for reference. (See top right)
2.       We do have a policy in place to clamp vehicles that are parked at the OKU section without the OKU tag/sticker

I’m also looking into the concern you raised regarding the misuse of OKU parking at Tesco Extra Puchong where the security guard indicated that the car parked at OKU bay was owned by a ‘boss’. I will have to get back to you on this as soon as I have more information however, it would be difficult to pin down the offender given that there isn’t a photo of the incident or an exact time indicated.

Well, Tesco Malaysia's public relations has just confirmed to us that the car does not belong to any of their staff their and certainly not any of any of the top brass too. 

They are currently expediting their investigations to ascertain who the car belongs too and will issue an official reply hopefully in a few hours. 

When that happens, we will publish their statement in full.
PET+BLOGSPOT has also alerted Tesco that a similar complaint was received by us from a disabled driver about their outlet in Puchong. Tesco is also investigating that.

Whilst we await their investigation and reply, folks, continue sharing this message in order to help our campaign to stop abuse of disabled car parks everywhere.

OK FRIENDS, it's time to get busy again for a right cause. 

The Mercedes car pictured below is alleged to belong to the top brass of Tesco Malaysia in Tebrau, Johor Bahru. If this is true - and he or she is not disabled - what is being done is TOTALLY INEXCUSABLE AND UNACCEPTABLE, more so from the shopping chain with their tagline "Because We Care." 

Are they showing by example that "because they care" for the

disabled, they are allowing their CEO or whoever to park in a place meant for shoppers with disabilities?

Anyway, here's what we can do. SHARE THIS POST WIDELY asking whether this car belongs to a disabled person. 

If not, why is it parked in the disabled slot. According to a reliable source, this car is parked there virtually everyday. 

Contact the HQ of Tesco Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd Head Office to confirm this allegation and then voice your protest. The number to call is General Line: +603 6287 6000. I will be doing it first thing on Monday morning. Thank you and good luck!
